As all of our stories are longer than a paragraph, here’s the quick and dirty version!
Chuck and Michelle met in Colorado Springs in 2010 and started dating soon after. After moving in together in 2011, Chuck asked off-the-cuff if Michelle would like to live on a boat. She thought about it for awhile and declared, “I’m in!”
Enzo and Zia joined our lives in 2012, rescues from the same litter. We brought Enzo home first, to keep our elderly lab mix Jasmine company in her twilight. Jasmine left us suddenly in October 2012, and Zia came home soon after
During our time in Manitou Springs, CO, we were evacuated 3 times: once for the Waldo Canyon Fire, and twice for subsequent flash flooding. After having to say goodbye to our home and belongings thrice, we knew we wouldn’t have a problem downsizing onto a boat.
We moved to Hampton, VA in 2013 to begin the new chapter and the boat search. In August 2014 we found tenalach, then called Antibes, sitting neglected at a dock at Southall Landings Marina. We got her checked out, signed the papers, and started this journey together!
Michelle had no sailing experience at all, and Chuck had very limited experience on catamarans and some lake sailing in Colorado. We’ve learned a lot so far, and look forward to learning more! Read on!
